This paper ascertained the current state of teacher training in Nigeria Colleges of Education and the impact of digital technology on teacher training, including opportunities and challenges. It also discussed the roles of teacher educators in facilitating digital literacy among pre-service teachers and the need for a paradigm shift in teacher training in Nigeria, moving beyond traditional methods. Furthermore, the paper addressed the issue of digital divide and the importance of ensuring equitable access to technology by pre-service teachers. It also emphasized the significance of ongoing professional development for teachers in a rapidly evolving digital landscape and strategies for integrating digital technology into teacher training programmes in Nigeria Colleges of Education. Findings from available literature suggested that the current state of teacher training in Nigeria Colleges of Education is inadequate especially with respect to preparing pre-service teachers for the digital age. The impact of digital technology on teacher training is enormous; however certain inhibiting challenges need to be addressed. Such challenges include but not limited to digital divide and the need for continuous professional development. The roles of teacher educators in facilitating digital literacy among pre-service teachers are crucial, and there is also need for a paradigm shift in teacher training that embraces digital technology. Strategies for integrating digital technology into teacher training programs should be developed, and equitable access to technology for pre-service teachers should be ensured. Conclusively, the revolutionization of teacher training in Nigeria is essential for the development of a 21st-century workforce that can compete effectively in the global scene.
